LICENSES ISSUED TO ALL ELECTRICITY DISTRIBUTION COMPANIES ...
BELGRADE, 11 October - The Council of the Energy Agency of the Republic of Serbia approved the issue of energy licenses for electricity distribution to "Elektrodistribucija - Belgrade", "Jugoistok" Nis and Centar Kragujevac. Now, with these three approved licenses, all distribution companies in Serbia have energy licenses.
Previously the Council approved the issue of energy licenses for electricity distribution to Elektrovojvodina Novi Sad and Elektrosrbija Kraljevo, distribution companies established by PE EPS.
The Council approved the issue of energy license for generation and for electricity distribution system operation to Jugoistok. Elektrodistribucija-Belgrade was granted an energy license for distribution system operation and Centar Kragujevac was granted energy licenses for electricity retail for tariff customers and for distribution system operation.
Ten more companies that operate in electricity trading, oil transport, oil and oil derivates trading and natural gas trading were granted energy licenses from the Energy Agency of Serbia.
Since mid June, the Energy Agency has approved the issue of 68 licenses to companies who met the required terms, and more than 500 applications are being processed. Most of these applications were submitted just before - and for a few days after - the 1 July, deadline set by the Energy Law for acquiring energy license.
The Agency's experts have managed to process about 300 applications in the past couple of months, however, due to incomplete documentation, most of these applications have had to be returned to the energy entities (some even a few times) and additional documentation has been requested. All these applications have to be reviewed and decided on again.
License issue is just one of the activities that has been entrusted to the Agency by the Energy Law. The Agency was established a little over a year ago as an independent regulatory body for electricity, gas, oil and heat sectors.
