NETWORK CODES FOR OIL TRANSPORTATION THROUGH OIL PIPELINES APPROVED
BELGRADE, May 27, 2010 – On the session held on May 26, the Council of the Energy Agency has approved the Network Codes for oil transportation through oil pipelines regulating technical aspects of the relations between oil transporters through oil pipelines and the system users.
These Codes establish their rights and obligations aiming at the provision of an efficient use of the system, as well as at a free system access and a non-discriminated position of the system users.
The main issues regulated by the network codes include transportation system access, technical conditions for safe system operations, procedure in case of accidents, the way oil measurements are taken and other transportation conditions.
The decision of the independent regulatory body was a follow-up of a preparation process which implied the cooperation with expert teams from PE “Transnafta” and the Agency, national accreditation body, Directorate of Measures, control organisations and of public hearings for all interested institutions and transportation system users.
Network Codes will enter into force following their publication in the “Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia”.
