OVER 300 ENERGY LICENSES ISSUED ...
BELGRADE, 27 June – The Energy Agency of the Republic of Serbia issued ten more licenses to energy entities that met the stipulated requirements. Since June last year 303 licenses have been issued granting energy entities the right to operate on the domestic energy market.
In the last year, licenses have been granted to almost all the companies in the electricity sector, as well as to most of the companies operating in the natural gas sector (transportation, distribution and trading).
758 license applications have been submitted to the Agency, most of which were for oil and oil derivates trading. The Agency's experts have managed to process all these applications, including the 303 that were issued, however, due to incomplete documentation, most of these applications have had to be returned to the energy entities concerned (some even a few times) and additional documentation has been requested. All these applications have to be reviewed and decided on again.
The issuing of energy licenses is one of the activities entrusted by the Energy Law to the Energy Agency, which is an operationally independent regulatory body on the national energy market.
The Law also stipulates that the Agency can revoke a license from an entity either temporarily or permanently even before the expiration of the ten year period for which the license is issued if that entity does not comply with the stated terms.
