EXEMPTION OF NEW NATURAL GAS INTERCONNECTOR APPROVED TO GASTRANS

On October 1, 2018, the Council of the Energy Agency of the Republic of Serbia (AERS) has adopted a Decision on the Exemption of the New Natural Gas Interconnector thereby approving an exemption to GASTRANS d.o.o. Novi Sad from the rules on third party access on a future gas pipeline which will constructed through the Republic of Serbia and which will be connected to the Bulgarian and Hungarian national transmission systems.
Acting upon an application of GASTRANS d.o.o. submitted to the Agency on February 2, 2018, upon the receipt of the Opinion of the Ministry of Mining and Energy of the Republic of Serbia, the AERS Council has also approved the exemption to the company from the obligation to apply regulated prices and the exemption from ownership unbundling of natural gas production and supply which are prescribed by the Energy Law (Law).
This GASTRANS d.o.o. application was submitted to the Agency in line with the Energy Law (Article 288) where the so-called “Third Package” of the European Union regulations on joint rules of internal energy market was transposed into the national legislation.
In line with the Law (Article 288), this Decision has been submitted by AERS to the Energy Community Secretariat for further action to be taken.
