Oil and Oil Derivatives

Adoption of the Energy Law in 2004 provided incentive for the development of competition within the oil and oil derivatives sector in Serbia in line with the energy policy goals, with a view to enhancing efficiency of the sector through application of market mechanism forces to oil and oil derivative supply, maintaining, however, the economic regulation of oil/ oil derivative pipeline transportation as natural monopolies.

Because of the need to overcome the effects of sanctions and war devastation to the oil industry, the Government of the Republic of Serbia adopted in 2001 the Decree on Oil Derivatives Prices and the Decree on Special Terms and Conditions for Import, Processing, Distribution and Trade in Oil/Oil Derivatives to enable control of oil/oil derivatives prices in the transition period.
